Alicia Davis (1959-2008)

     Alycia K. Davis spent 22 years as the music teacher at Halls-Ferry Elementary School in the Ferguson Florissant School District.  During that time she developed a choir that performed throughout the area with much acclaim.  She was also a member of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus for 26 years and held the position of Alto Section Leader.  In addition, she was Associate Director of the St. Louis Children's Choir beginning in the 1996-1997 season.

     Alycia graduated with honors from Webster University with a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, a Bachelors of Music Education in Vocal and Instrumental Music, and a Master of Music degree in Music Theory/Composition.

     A celebrated educator and musician, Alycia she was chosen 'Teacher of the Year' in 1995 for her school and several times elected to Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Alycia Davis was also recognized by the MCDA as the 1999 Outstanding Choral Director in the St. Louis Suburban District.

     She was a member of the American Choral Directors Association with leadership positions at the state and division levels; the National Association for Music Education; and the Arts and Education Council.
