G. Robert Bohon

George Robert “Bob” Bohon, 76, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away at his home on March 22, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1949 in Sedalia, Missouri. His parents were Emmett and Dorothy Bohon. Bob lived a life defined by extraordinary talent, unwavering devotion to his family, and a generous spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bob married his beloved wife, Janie, of Sedalia, Missouri on June 9, 1973 and they shared 53 years of marriage built on love, laughter, their beloved family and grandchildren and a deep commitment to their faith and one another. He devoted his life to making sure that his wife and family had everything they could possibly want, and his love for them was evident to all. He was immensely proud of his children, Justin and Melissa, and found tremendous joy in watching his four grandchildren sing, perform, participate in sports and play their various musical instruments.

A gifted musician, singer and performer, Bob served as the head of the Vocal Music Department at Rock Bridge High School for 27 years. He inspired countless individuals with his passion for the arts, but his talents extended far beyond the classroom. Bob could do just about anything he put his mind to. He was a brilliant pianist, vocalist, chef, baker, painter, pickleball player and advocate for the arts. After his tenure at Rock Bridge High School, Bob was inspired to perform professionally. Some of his favorite shows included the National Tours of Sweeney Todd, A Christmas Carol and the Buddy Holly Story. Perhaps his favorite role of all, however, was that of Santa Claus, in Merry Ole Missouri, directed by his daughter, Melissa.

Bob was also the minister of music at Parkade Baptist Church. His deep abiding faith and musical gifts inspired so many individuals. The joy and hope he brought to the congregation weekly was an inspiration to all who had the opportunity to experience his passion and love for the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Bohon, his son, Justin Bohon and his husband, Stephen Oremus, his daughter, Melissa Webel and her husband, Corey Webel, his four grandchildren, Emma Grace, Harrison, Skylar and Elliot, as well as his brothers and sisters, Stanley, Beth (deceased), Charlie, Everett, Susan and Lisa.

His visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 5:00-6:30pm and his memorial service will be held on April 18, 2026 at 10:30am at Parkade Baptist Church in Columbia Missouri.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in his memory to the National Children’s Cancer Society. https://thenccs.org/

Bob will be greatly missed by his family and the many people whose lives he enriched through his kindness, generosity, remarkable talent, compassion, faith and infinite gifts.
