
Jason Bartelsmeyer
Jason Lee Bartelsmeyer, of Rolla, MO, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the age of 47.
Jason was born on April 29, 1978 in Springfield, MO to Dr. Jerry Donivan Bartelsmeyer and Betty Sue (Black) Bartelsmeyer. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Bartelsmeyer; grandparents, Della and Leslie Bartelsmeyer, and Mary Virginia and Otho Black; and uncles, Max Black and Earl Stinneford.
Jason went to college at Drury University and was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity. He studied music education at Drury later receiving his master’s degree at Missouri State University.
He taught music education in the Rolla school district from 2001 until 2024, teaching in the Middle School, Junior High and High School. He was an active member and minister of music at the First United Methodist Church of Rolla. He was also a member of Rolla Men of Song, the Rolla Community Choir and the Missouri Choral Directors Association.
Jason’s passions included his students and their love of music, his church, and live theater performances. He had season tickets to multiple performing arts venues. He enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad. His favorite sports teams were the St. Louis Cardinals, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Mizzou Tigers. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Jason will be greatly missed by surviving family which includes: his mother, Betty Bartelsmeyer; a brother, Eric Bartelsmeyer; sister and brother-in-law, Ashley and Robert Montgomery; nieces, Halli Beck (spouse, Cameron Beck), Kayla Thomas (spouse, Denton Thomas), Abigail Montgomery, Megan Montgomery, great nephews, Tucker and Lukas Thomas; and aunt, Carol Stinneford.
A funeral service for Jason L. Bartelsmeyer will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church, 803 N. Main St., in Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the Maple Park Cemetery, 2 W. Prospect St., in Aurora, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Jason Bartelsmeyer Memorial Scholarship Fund (located at Phelps County Bank) or the First United Methodist Church in Rolla.
