Julie Cato

Julie Cato, 55, of Independence, MO was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 4, 2009. A Celebration of Julie’s life will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Ft. Osage High School Performing Arts Center. Private burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Julie Cato Scholarship fund c/o Ft. Osage School District. Julie was born October 24, 1953 in Independence, MO the daughter of Donald and Patricia (Bates) Reas. Julie’s first love was her family. In the early years of married life she chose to be a stay at home mom to care for her children and provide for the home. In later years, she loved to spoil her grandchildren in whom she had great pride. When her children were old enough, she returned to school to pursue her second love of music. She earned her degree in music education and became the choral director at Fort Osage High School where she continued to touch the lives of all of those with whom she came into contact. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, mentor and friend. Julie is survived by her husband Jerrold Cato; daughter Jennifer Jaramillo and husband Gustavo; son Jeremy Cato and wife Christina; grandchildren Mackenzie, Aubrynne and Hope Lundgren-Jaramillo, Tyler, Anthony and Marissa Cato. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Pat.
